60th Anniversary Collection Car No. 2 - 2000s, Aston Martin DBR9
The Aston Martin DBR9 debuted in 2005 and actively raced all over the world until 2011, when the GT1 category ended. Based on Aston Martin's DB9 road car, the DBR9 kees several components from its road-going predecessor, but incorporates a number of changes, mainly to keep the weight down. Like many racing cars, the DBR9 did experience some changes throughout its racing life, which included 17 different chassis. 2007 also saw the removal of the two cooling vents from the bonnet of the car.
Out on the track, the Aston Martin DBR9 found success in the LMGT1 category despite finishing behind arch-rivals Corette in the 2005 and 2006 Le Mans 24 Hour. However, 2007 and 2008 proved to be the car's golden years as two LMGT1 category wins were claimed by the #009 Aston Martin Racing DBR9.
